Multi Colour, Multi Block Linocut Workshop
Product Details

–

Skill Level: Intermediate (basic tool handling and cutting techniques are required)

Fee: $275 (all materials, tools and equipment included)

Location: SECAN Gallery Gate 6, Akoonah Park, Cardinia St, Berwick

Date: Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September 2025

Time: 9.30 am to 3.00 pm each day

You will design and print a small edition of multi-colour linocut prints in this two-day workshop. We will cover all aspects of multi-block linocuts from design idea to finished print. Day One is for registration setup, design and carving; Day Two is for printing, by hand and on the press. The emphasis will be on developing skills for managing registration options and colour layers. You will explore the difference between designing for single and multi-block prints, and reduction printing; learning how design, mark making and cutting create balance and visual strength in monotone and colour work

You will use oil-based relief ink for this class, and there will be helpful guidance on colour mixing and the impact colour choices have on multi-colour prints. There will be tips on mixing your ink and multi-colour "rainbow" rolls. We will also cover the pros and cons of oil-based inks as part of the discussion, along with how to use additives such as extender, drier, and tack reducer. The workshop includes a comprehensive tool honing demonstration
