Cockatoos Rising at Merino

During October 2025, I loaded the dog into a camper van and made a 3 week road trip. My route took me to South Australia via The Grampians, and thence the wine regions of Coonawarra, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.

While passing through the grazing country around Merino in western Victoria, I chanced upon a large mob of cockatoos perched along a farm fence. Disturbed, they took off across the field in a blaze of white and yellow, as the midday breeze turned the grass into an ocean of green.
